The story so far!
Affe, short for Afsaneh and
meaning fairy tales was brought up in London
under the cultural influence of a persian family
where laughter, music and good food was the
norm. Taught by her father to be independent
and by
her mother to be passionate, she started singing
from the age of 5 but was 13 when she first
got paid for it !! Instead of reading bedtime
stories,
her father use to play the clarinet to send
her to sleep. That's when she decided that music
was her passion, it was the only language she
could understand.
Describing
herself as a citizen of the world and believing
that the world is one country and
mankind it’s citizens, she grew up listening
to a record collection as diverse as classical
Gershwin tunes to the hip sounds of Aretha Franklin
and Sting, not to mention a variety of world
music from cultural middle eastern chants to
peruvian flutes.
She
has been described as mysterious, seductive,
passionate with an invigorating vocal ability
by all those who’ve met and worked with
her. Through sheer hard work and determination
Affe began writing and recording with various
artists/producers and having experimented with
various musical genres, she found her calling.
Her music is a mixture of r’n’b/pop
with mild eastern influences. Whilst having a
commercial aspect, it’s not too far removed
from affe’s culture and mysticism....
All works surrounding her from her web site
to her photographs have been undertaken by up
and coming artists and designers which affe sought
out so that they could all move up the success
ladder together !!
"The
time is right for me now, not 3 years ago,
not in 2 years
time... this is my hour"
Having recently performed at the first gay pride
fest concert in Chicago in June 2003 to over
10,000 people and selling over 1000 Cds, she
was asked to come back and perform at the North
Halsted Market Days in August where over 300,000
people attend over 2 days. She performed an invigorating
45 min set with 2 percussionist and 6 dancers
to over 20,000 people and with a CD signing ceremony
sold over 6000 cds...
Travelling
throughout the US, she performed at a number
of leading venues including the legendary ”crow
bar” club, and before her return to the
UK was invited to perform and be interviewed
on the CBS weekend morning show with an audience
of over 1,000,000 people where she was described
as a "new generation of rising stars to look
out for." A talented singer/songwriter, her
fierce sense of independence
and personal
style has captured
all who’ve met her. Her passion and determination
in succeeding is captivating.
"If you want something, really want something,
then go for it, chase it and never give up. No
matter what, you’ll always win."
